🚀 3.2.1. Choose Your New Superpower ::: Atomic Scaling

Jan 16, 2026

This year calls for transformation, not just execution.

Last year was about transition: moving pieces into place. This year is about fundamental change. If you listen closely around you, you'll notice this shift in how people are talking about 2025.

The focus now isn't on doing more. It's on becoming your new self and choosing your new superpower for the year ahead.

3 IDEAS:

I. Every pivot starts with narrative, not product

The biggest transformations in tech weren't feature releases, they were identity rewrites.

  • Microsoft under Satya: from "Windows everywhere" to "developers love us." The shift from competitive to collaborative didn't come from Azure features. It came from redefining who Microsoft was.
  • Tencent: stopped being "the Chinese copycat" and became "the platform that makes you successful." They threw massive partner conferences and wrote checks. The ecosystem narrative preceded the ecosystem.
  • Zuckerberg's pivots: Learning Mandarin wasn't about China market entry, it was signaling "we're global, not just a college app." Building Jarvis at home repositioned Facebook as an AI company before the product roadmap caught up.

The pattern: declare the identity shift publicly before you've fully executed it. The commitment creates the reality.

II.Identity beats OKRs

Founders optimize for systems and metrics. But lasting change comes from rewriting your identity first, then letting behavior follow.

Compare:

  • "I need to network more" vs. "I'm someone who connects great people"
  • "I should work out" vs. "I'm an athlete"
  • "We need better retention" vs. "We build products people can't live without"

When identity is at stake, you act differently. You don't skip the gym when you're an athlete. You don't ship mediocre features when you build products people can't live without.

Say the identity statement before you believe it. Repetition creates reality.

III. Pick one operating principle for the year, then architect everything around it

My theme for 2025 is Flow.

Not as a personal productivity hack, but as the core thesis of what I'm building: helping people design their financial lives so wealth flows in naturally: creating security, compounding growth, and leverage to invest in what matters.

Flow for a founder means:

  • Deep work on high-leverage problems - Long, uninterrupted blocks where you're building the core of the business, not managing the periphery.
  • Tight feedback loops - You know within days if something works. Fast iteration beats perfect planning.
  • Challenge matched to skill - Hard enough to be fully engaged, achievable enough to build momentum. The zone where growth compounds.

2 QUOTES:

I.

"Flow is the state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter." — Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, a.k.a. Father of Flow

II.

“The best moments in our lives are not passive or comfortable. They are moments when we stretch ourselves to the limit in pursuit of something meaningful."— Ludovic Bodin, Co-Founder of BOBIC.

1 ACTION:

Pick one physical practice that embodies the transformation you're going for. Not a metaphor. Something you actually do. In my case, calisthenics.

If you become it in your body, it spreads to your company. Founders who run marathons shift from sprint mentality to building endurance systems. Founders who start Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu like Zuck become more grounded and human in how they show up.

What you practice in one domain becomes how you operate in all of them.

Let's Play,

P.S. Two weeks ago, I wrote about ditching the annual plan and using a better alternative instead, the 3V. I decided to turn it into a short using my AI avatar: it’s already at 1,900 views. Curious to hear your thoughts, and whether you think I should do more of these.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:
