🚀 3.2.1. The Three Laws of Bull Energy ::: Atomic Scaling

Jul 10, 2026

The bottleneck of every company used to be execution. AI ended that: code, campaigns, products, all rented by the token. But bottlenecks don't disappear. They migrate. For machines: from tokens to electricity. For founders: from execution to conviction. If founder energy is the scarce resource of 2026, what laws govern it? I found three.

THREE IDEAS FROM ME

I. The Law of Anticipation: energy is set by what you credibly expect next week, not what you achieved last quarter.

Bull and Bear are not moods. They are operating systems, like the difference between "Play to Win" and "Play Not to Lose." The Bear OS runs on loss aversion - losses weigh twice as much as gains - so it protects €1 it has rather than chase €1.90 it doesn't. Its question: how do we survive?

The Bull OS runs on dopamine, which fires not on reward but on predicted reward. Its question: how do we change the world? That's why you can't memo your way from Bear to Bull. A demo on Friday generates more energy than a bonus in December.

II. The Law of Destruction: every act of creation begins by killing something.

In December 1945, Picasso drew a bull. Then he drew it ten more times, each version with less — eleven states, from realistic beast to a few essential lines.. Apple later used the series to teach its designers what simplicity costs.

Picasso's words: "A picture used to be a sum of additions. In my case, a picture is a sum of destructions."

Everyone gets bull energy wrong: they think it's addition. More headcount, more features, more meetings. That's not a bull — that's a balloon.

Real bull energy is Plate 11: the confidence to delete the certainty, the consensus, the legacy roadmap. Sun Tzu compared strategic energy to a drawn crossbow — you don't draw it by adding; you pull everything back to a single point.

Before you ask what to build this quarter, write the list of what must die first.

III. The Law of Contagion: belief travels at the speed of sacrifice.

Research found mood spreads through teams below conscious awareness. In a five-person company, the founder isn't 20% of the emotional field — closer to 80%.

But contagion needs credibility, and biology solved that: a signal is believed in proportion to what it costs the sender. Skin in the game isn't ethics decoration — it's the transmission mechanism.

One warning: contagion punishes hesitation. Half-paddling at Nazaré is how you get hurt.

Imagine this: the CEO and COO didn’t write a memo about AI-first operations. They moved their own business onto the platform and switched the humans off. Nobody needed convincing after that.

TWO QUOTES FROM OTHERS:

I.

"Every act of creation is first of all an act of destruction." — Pablo Picasso

II.

"The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do." — Apple, "Think Different"

ONE ACTION FOR YOU:

Make one costly commitment this week. Choose your level:
1 — Book the stage. A speaking slot at your industry's next big conference. (Anticipation)
2 — Cut to the core. Strip the product to the one function that scales. (Destruction)
3 — Rebuild the room. Part ways with the low energizers. (Contagion)
4 — Migrate the cash cow onto the system you've been selling to everyone but yourself. (Skin in the game)

The higher the level, the more it costs — and belief travels at the speed of sacrifice.

PS: Last week, we held the first Paris exhibition of paintings my wife and I created together. One features a Bull reduced to geometric essentials.
