🚀 3.2.1. The Ultimate Game ::: Atomic Scaling
Nov 07, 2025
Life is a game. Entrepreneurship is gameplay. Most people? They’re playing like NPCs, stuck in someone else’s script.
What if, just like Dubai rose from the desert to reimagine what’s possible, you can redesign your game and become the most powerful, beautiful version of yourself.
3 IDEAS FROM ME
I. Life is the ultimate game.
Building a company, raising a family, learning a skill: it all follows game logic. Levels, quests, boss fights. The difference? In life, you design the game board.
Like gamers, entrepreneurs believe epic wins are possible. They learn the rules, spot the patterns, and level up through every challenge. That unshakeable belief, that the game is winnable, is what bends reality and made entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and Steve Jobs so powerful.
Work isn't work when you love the game. In startups, you don't win by playing harder. You win by designing a better game, then mastering it.
II. Turn goals into epic quests.
Yu-kai Chou spent thousands of hours on Diablo II, leveling up characters that vanished the moment he logged off. One day he realized: “What if I applied the same dedication to the game of life?”
That shift changes everything. When goals become quests, the mundane turns meaningful. You’re not just building a company, you’re leveling yourself up. The best entrepreneurs make no distinction between work and play.
Here’s the move: in every MMORPG, veterans help newcomers level up faster. Real life works the same way. Show people they’re in the game. Help them level up. Rise together.
III. Don’t live like an NPC.
Some people drift through life chasing comfort without passion, like NPCs, Non-Player Characters. If you are not aware of your own game, you might end up playing someone else's.
You can't control the cards you're dealt, only how you play them. Creators and founders are active players. They write the code, shape the map, build new worlds.
Life isn't a problem to solve, it's a game to play.

1 ACTION FOR YOU:
What game am I really playing? If your daily actions don’t move you toward mastery, redesign the game.

P.S. Founders who play for mastery outlast those who play for money. That mastery is Atomic Scaling: doing more with less, leveraging AI to compound growth.
Sam Altman and Mustafa Suleyman, founders of OpenAI and DeepMind, are betting on two different games right now. Here's what they look like, from my AI Summit talk
WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:
"Games have pioneered technology (AI, 3D graphics, new input devices) and business models (free to play, micro-transactions) for decades.
Ludovic Bodin's Atomic Scaling is a captivating and enlightening journey into the remarkable growth of the gaming industry, offering invaluable lessons for all.
It's a call to take gaming seriously and a blueprint for achieving exponential growth in any industry."
